Three-time Grammy winner Rodrigos highly anticipated third studio album follows her critically acclaimed LPs Guts and Sour. Rodrigo began teasing the new albums thematic direction in an interview with British Vogue in March 2026. She indicated the album would predominantly feature sad love songs, saying that many of her favorite romantic tracks derive their appeal from an undercurrent of fear or longing. The album takes inspiration from Rodrigos time in London, and it will be her most experimental one yet.

Marking a stylistic departure from her first two albums pop sound and four-letter, single-word titles, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love nonetheless continues Rodrigos collaboration with Nigro, who returns as the new albums producer. The albums lead single, Drop Dead, was released on April 17.
