On June 26, 1964, United Artists rushed to release the U.S. soundtrack album for A Hard Days Night, which the studio released in August. Along with its buoyant title track, the album features Cant Buy Me Love, And I Love Her, and five more Beatles originals, as well as four George Martin-arranged orchestral instrumentals. The soundtrack topped Billboards albums chart at #1 for 14 consecutive weeks, tallying a whopping 51 weeks on the chart. Capitol quickly released A Hard Days Night as a single, topping Billboards Hot 100 chart and selling more than a million copies in short order. A Hard Days Night was a box office smash and a critics pick, earning two Academy Award nominations.

Using the original 1964 mono master, new all-analog lacquers were cut by Kevin Reeves at Nashvilles East Iris Studios. By constantly referring to the original first pressing, the album is faithful to the original release, while also enabling more musical information to be heard than was possible before. Featuring faithfully replicated artwork and a new four-panel insert with an essay by American Beatles historian, Bruce Spizer.
