ThisBlue Note Tone Poet edition of The Complete ‘Round About Midnight At The Cafe Bohemia presents the complete performance of Kenny Dorham’s May 1956 live recordings from the famous New York club. Recorded under Dorham’s own name just months after the Jazz Messengers’ landmark Cafe Bohemia set, the performances feature J.R. Monterose, Kenny Burrell, Bobby Timmons, Sam Jones and Arthur Edgehill. The programme combines Dorham originals with material by Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie alongside Great American Songbook standards, and this expanded edition gathers the recordings in full, including alternate takes. Produced for the Tone Poet series by Joe Harley, and housed in a deluxe tip-on trifold jacket including a booklet with previously unpublished Francis Wolff photographs, plus an essay and track-by-track notes by Syd Schwartz.
