Reframed here as Michel Legrand Meets Miles Davis, the album pairs Legrand’s distinctive arrangements with an exceptional line-up drawn from the New York jazz scene, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Ben Webster, Phil Woods, Herbie Mann, Hank Jones, Art Farmer and Donald Byrd. Legrand described the project as “the record of his dreams,” and the sessions remain notable for the scale of the personnel involved and for the way his orchestrated approach reshaped a programme of jazz standards. This edition also adds a note by Michel Legrand on the historic sessions, material not included on the original release, and is presented with new artwork based on session photography of Miles with Legrand.
