Blondie’s self-titled debut album was first issued in 1976 on Private Stock, and mapped out the group’s early sound, connecting punk energy with the sharper melodic approach that would soon place Blondie at the front of new wave. Although not a major commercial success on its original release, the record has grown steadily in stature since. Songs such as “X Offender”, “Rip Her To Shreds” and “Look GoodIn Blue” show the band’s style already taking shape, with Debbie Harry’s vocals and the group’s mix of attitude, hooks and downtown cool fully present from the outset.
