MILES DAVIS & GIL EVANS Miles Ahead (Limited Edition 1996 Japanese promotional sample 10-track stereo remastered CD in the ‘Master Sound’ series, the 1957 album classic with ‘sample’ print on the inner rim of the disc for review ahead of release. Comes housed in a mini-LP style wallet sleeve replicating the original withdrawn ‘sailboat’ artwork. On first release, the ever forthright Miles [a man not known to mince his words] objected to this depiction of a young white woman & child aboard a sailboat – Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George Avakian, “Why’d you put that white bitch on there?” The sleeve has a sample sticker on the back & is complete with the obi-strip & gold hype stickered reseal SRCS9106)
