Blending elements of indie-folk, soul, and country, Fight n Flight features poignant, deft lyrics paired with beautiful infectious melodies that combine to create a deep resonance with the listener. Recorded almost entirely live in an old Queenslander share house in Paddington, Brisbane, the performances swing from devastating minimalist authenticity to triumphant, sweeping grandeur through its predominantly acoustic instrumentation. Based around Marshalls compelling vocals and nylon-string guitar, tracked eye-to-eye and toe-to-toe with accompaniment from frequent sidekick Chris Pickering on steel-string acoustic, the album was steadily produced and engineered by Ben Tolliday in sessions across all hours of the day and night. It features contributions from a swathe of incredible musicians, including Ant Aggs, Paul Hankison, Eugene Romaniuk, and string arrangements from Savannah Jo Lack and Ben Tolliday.
