The Aristocrats, the first release from Seattle’s King Friday, is the tip of a psychedelic iceberg. Paul Simons penchant for harmony and Harry Nilssons wail clearly influence this set of songs but theres something else happening here. Theres a whimsy that cant be faked – a non-self-aware-stoner-dork vibe. These guys arent trying to do something different. They are different.
