Wahdon was one of the first albums where her son, Ziad Rahbani became her chief producer, taking over from his ailing father Assi Rahban. This generational change sparked Fairuz to pivot from traditional Arabic folk to more modern styles, as reflected in this dichotomous 1979 release.
The A-Side, recorded in Beirut, finds Fairuz revelling in Middle Eastern instrumentation and modalities. Meanwhile, the B-Side, recorded in Athens, sees Fairuz expanding her boundaries with funk and disco arrangements.
