Description
The third album from Japanese saxophonist Takao Uematsu famed for his work on the Three Blind Mice label during the 70s and sounding uniquely different here. The album was produced by the Japanese singer Maki Asakawa, and has a tuneful vibe at most points with work from Shibuya Takeshi on piano and keyboards, Bobby Watson on bass, and Hiro Tsunoda on drums a group who mostly come across with an old school acoustic vibe, but who also hit a slight mellow fusion vibe at times, thanks to the use of keyboards and the way that the drums are recorded. Uematsu has a nice sense of laidback soulfulness on his tenor and titles include “Sonny Is Blue”, “Cry Me A River”, “Ja’s Song”, “A Song For You”, “What’s Happen”, and a nice take on “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know.
