Description
“Cecil Moses & The SGs throw it back to digging up old school funk and soul 45s and spin it in a modern light in Superheros Delight. Drummer Oli Klomp was summoned by the muse that beckoned the melody and guitar line. The rhythm section filled out a complementary pocket and the combination makes for alluring melodies and dance-worthy riffs. The tune represents the West Seattle music scene at its finest and is part of a long-standing relationship with Color Reds network in the Pacific Northwest.
Westside Boogaloo explores the 60s boogaloo soul-inspired side of Cecil Moses & The SGs. The track was effortlessly constructed through collaboration with Oli Klomp bringing in a tom-tom-based drum grove, Marc Hager & Colin Higgins hashing out the chord progression and melody, and Bobby Heinemann putting the icing on the cake with a boogaloo bass line. It is the perfect juxtaposition from the 45s A side Superheros Delight. Once you finish the record, you will see the direct influence from Booker T & The MGs and instrumental soul from all over the world. “
