This one is remastered from the original mono tapes of the May 1957 one-off album Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers cut with Thelonious Monk, his only appearance on Atlantic Records. The result is a true meeting of the minds, a beautiful union of Monks melodies with Blakeys unshakable sense of swing. The second LP in this set features some sweet outtakes, most previously unreleased.
