Blue Note, 1961
Brooklyn-born pianist Duke Jordan was on the front lines of the bebop revolution as a member of Charlie Parkers quintet in the late-1940s which also featured a young Miles Davis on trumpet. In 1960, Jordan recorded his sole Blue Note album as a leader, Flight To Jordan, an exemplar hard bop date featuring a top-shelf quintet with Dizzy Reece on trumpet, Stanley Turrentine on tenor saxophone, Reggie Workman on bass, and Art Taylor on drums. The set presented six fine Jordan original compositions including the minor mode title track, the elegant ballad Starbrite, the church-inspired Deacon Joe, and the Latin-tinged Si-Joya.

This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
