Originally released in 1958 Come Fly With Me marked a decisive change of pace for Frank Sinatra, pairing him for thefirst time with arranger and conductor Billy May. Moving away from the introspective tone of Where Are You?, the album adopts a light-hearted, globe-trotting concept built around swing, wit, and effortless vocal command. From theopening title track – written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen at Sinatra’s request – the album unfolds as a musical journey, touching down in Paris, Vermont, Brazil, and Hawaii. Along the way, Sinatra balances elegant standards such as “Moonlight In Vermont” and “April In Paris” with playful, rhythmic performances including “Isle Of Capri” and “On The Road To Mandalay”, all driven by May’s crisp, propulsive arrangements.
