Description
Grimes is the multimedia project of Canadian artist Claire Boucher.
She is best known for her work as a producer, singer and songwriter, although ‘Grimes’ also encompasses her work as a director, painter and writer.
Bringing together the experimentation found in her early work with a cutting edge pop aesthetic, Visions was to prove to be the breakthrough album for Grimes. Her first for 4AD and topping many a End of Year poll, Claire incorporated influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, whilst also drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, IDM, New Age, K-pop, Industrial and glitch. A star was born.
In 2013 Grimes was named the Webby’s Artist of the Year and was also awarded a Juno for Electronic Album of the Year for her third record, Visions. – 4AD
Grimes is the one-woman cyborg-pop project of Montreal’s Claire Boucher. Visions, her compulsively listenable third album, is an electro cotton-candy entryway to her peculiar kind of bliss. Pitchfork
