Description
– The Analog Vault // Essential Listening –
Made up of BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer lafur Arnalds and Bloodgroups Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, Kiasmos experimental take on minimal techno has been at turns surprising and entirely mesmerising since its inception. The unlikely merging of disparate worlds – Arnalds acoustic and classical influence and Rasmussens electronic approach – is brilliantly fulfilled on their tightly-woven, self-titled debut album.
Released in 2014 via Erased Tapes Records,Kiasmos moody, glacial and understated compositions are entirely reflective of its creators Nordic environment. The chilly synthesis of broken beats, 4/4 and ambient elements may appear incongruous, but they are wondrously tied together through layered, neo-classical ambience – creating a remarkably textured and infinitely rewarding listen throughout. Standout tracks include Looped, Thrown, Held, Lit, Swayed and Bent. The Analog Vault
