Originally released in 1961, Blues In My Bottle captures Lightnin’ Hopkins in a solo acoustic setting, with thefull weight of the record carried by his voice, guitar work and rhythmic phrasing. The album moves between originals, traditional material and reworked standards, giving Hopkins room to show the direct, unforced style that made him one of thedefining figures in Texas country blues. Tracks including Wine Spondee-O-Dee, Blues In The Bottle, Catfish Blues and DC-7 sit alongside pieces such as Beans, Beans, Beans and My Grandpa Is Old Too!, with Hopkins’ fingerstyle playing handling bass, rhythm and lead in the same performance. This edition is part of the Bluesville Series from Craft Recordings and Acoustic Sounds, inspired by the original Prestige imprint established in 1959. It is mastered all-analog by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab at Blue Heaven Studios, cut from the original tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings.
