When this was released back in 2011, there was nothing that sounded like Floral Shoppe. Injust a few short years, everything sounded like Floral Shoppe. Crafted by prolific Portland nproducer Ramona Xavier, under the pseudonym Macintosh Plus (one of her over 40 aliases),this album shaped the sound of the 2010s, helping pioneer a new genre called vaporwave. Asone of the first in a flurry of bedroom producers plundering the entirety of humanitys musicallibrary to recontextualise in a movement of ironic, Internet-driven postmodernism – MacintoshPlus work here was key to defining millennial popular consciousness. These warped, ndecelerated and hyper-produced medleys of forgotten muzak, game soundtracks and retro easylistening was a mercurial revolution draped in pastel themes and pixelated nostalgia.
