Peggy Gou has ascended from underground sensation to global icon by sticking to her own unwavering vision, becoming one of the most in-demand electronic musicians and DJs in the world. Referred to as the worlds hippest DJ by The Guardian, Gou has graced the cover of Vogue Germany, Vanity Fair Italia, GQ Middle East and Korea, Harpers Bazaar Malaysia, and others, while boasting collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Hyundai, Ray Ban, Samsung, and Authentic Beauty Concept.She made 2023s international song of the summer with (It Goes Like) Nanana, which topped singles charts in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Greece, as well as the Billboard Dance Airplay chart. The balmy club hit appears on her highly anticipated debut album I Hear You, which arrives in June on XL Recordings. Korean DJ-producer Peggy Gou is one of the most successful women in her field. Shes about to headline a huge outdoor party in London and reckons shes played to a million fans in the past year. As often in the dance industry, success precedes suspicion: Gous first break came when a promoter saw her photo rather than heard her DJ; shes into fashion as much as music; her songs often rehash club classics. These things are all true, but they dont much matter; I Hear You is a sparkling introduction to Gous eclectic K-house sound.

All corners of 90s dancefloors are scoured for inspiration. Back to One and 1+1=11 could be vintage Strictly Rhythm tracks, while slivers of mellow techno, piano house and even Renegade Soundwave pop up, as well as that earworm interpolation of 9pm (Till I Come) during huge crossover hit (It Goes Like) Nanana. Gou deftly creates irrepressible music equally suited to tiny basements, Bluetooth speakers or Berghains Panorama bar, the Berlin nightspot where she gained so much of her clubbing education.
