However, you mayone might be surprised to learn that the album was seen as a risk prior to its 1997 release. At the time, the UK landscape was in the throes of Britpop and alternative rock. And while Radiohead was at the forefront, the English bands third LP saw them move away from guitar-centric music to craft complex and challenging art rock thats densely layered with eclectic instrumentation and rife with odd time signatures. Featuring nihilistic lyrics that dealt with consumerism, capitalism and alienation – OK Computer was not the radio-friendly fare their label wouldve encouraged.
