The album’s lead single “Lover,” which reimagines Joan Armatrading’s “Love and Affection,” has received praise from Armatrading herself.

Produced with Chris Potter and Emre Ramazanoglu,Lovin’ Youblends acoustic ballads, indie-rock, soul, and electro, with themes of love and resilience. It also features “I’m a Rebel,” co-written with Madonna collaborator Mirwais.

Ashcroft, a two-time Ivor Novello winner, rose to fame with The Verve and has since had a chart-topping solo career.
